So after a long week, our 48 Hour Film is finally complete! We finished it up yesterday afternoon and showed it off today along with everyone else's work in class. I'm really proud of how everything came together and how everyone's ideas were listened to and incorporated into the final piece.
We had loads of fun shooting it and got to play around loads in Premiere Pro with special effects and bringing the whole edit together which turned into a big collaboration! I have to say as well, Daphne made an excellent "comic addict"!

In terms of dialogue we were really unhappy with how a lot of it had come out once we were editing the footage. Much of the dialogue hadn't been captured or was far too quiet to be of any use so I suggested a small voice over of Daphne telling us what she was going through a-la Blade Runner. I don't think the group was up for the idea to begin with but after convincing them I think it worked out really well and added an extra sense of drama to a comedic film.
Post-production was definitely the longest process of the whole project. We initially loaded all of our footage into Premiere Pro and cut it together to create the narrative. After this we cut out any unnecessary footage that didn't add to the final narrative. This also meant trimming down any footage that was already in place.
Once the narrative was in place we began adding in special effects for the "tripped out" scenes. This involved a mix moving of duplicating a clip and shifting the timing slightly to created a double vision effect. We also added motion blur and other movement effects before upping the saturation and adding brighter more vibrant colours.
After the effects and edit were completed we focused our attention on sound. We searched far and wide for music, mainly focusing on the "trippy" scenes whilst also searching for background music appropriate for the individual scenes. After many hours we found music we liked and pulled them into Premiere Pro. The next several hours were spent adjusting the music to fit in with the movement in each scene. Sound effects were also added to add additional drama as well as comedic effect.
You can watch the whole short film below. There are some issues with sound design in that we spent a long time trying to find piece of music that would work together with only a little success.
